Reply With Quote #1

hello, ive recently moved a HLDS server from an older windows server rack that was running Windows Server 2008 to a newer, more upgraded model which is also running server 2008, everything transferred over fine except for one problem i am currently having.

the problem i have is that the FPS of the HLDS server is capping at about 64 to 65 FPS, and i would like to have it at least 100, even 200 or even 300 if ever possible on windows, i have read about this win-HL booster addon for metamod but i have been warned that i should stay away from it, i have attempted to try the WMP method that i have heard about some places, but the server just complains it cannot play anything because there is no audio.
i have tried everything else to my knowledge and nothing has made the FPS budge at all.

my reasons for wanting higher FPS is for removing any lag and jittery movements, but to also remove the jittery movements when driving brush based vehicles in the maps as well.

my server.cfg is listed below:

Code:
// Use this file to configure your DEDICATED server.
// This config file is executed on server start.

// disable autoaim
sv_aim 0

// disable clients' ability to pause the server
pausable 0

// default server name. Change to "Bob's Server", etc.
hostname "LiveWired #1 -FAST DL- -GUN GAME-"
rcon_password ""
sv_rcon_banpenalty 600 //time ban for bad rcon attempts
sv_rcon_minfailures 5 //limit of 5 failed RCON attempts
sv_rcon_minfailuretime 120 //time in which attempts are checked

// maximum client movement speed
sv_maxspeed 320
sv_maxrate 6144
sv_maxupdaterate 80
sv_maxcmdrate 80
rate 30000
fps_max 300
tickrate 100
sys_ticrate 300

// 20 minute timelimit
mp_timelimit 20

sv_cheats 0

// load ban files
exec listip.cfg
exec banned.cfg
any help is greatly appreaciated, thanks

i have googled for the last 7 hours looking for a solution and i have found none, ive tried a few different server configs and that has not worked either, im even looked through this forum and havent found an answer apart from "use linux", which the problem is i was using linux before and the server kept crashing due to complaining it had no free memory to load maps, despite having 4GB to use.

running the latest metamod and latest amx mod x, legitimate secure steam server.

does anyone have a solution at all?? anyone?

create a batch file to start the server (Google is your friend), add the start up parameter -sys_ticrate 120

Start windows media player, but dont open anything with it, just start it, then let it run minimised in the background.

Start your server, your server is now running at 120 fps, which should be a stable 101 FPS at the console.

If you want 200 FPS (God knows why you would) then set -sys_ticrate 270, that should give you a stable 200 fps ish.

will a server still run at constant 101 fps with the -sys_ticrate 120 command if the server has active 32/32 players?
