A simple summary: only in our galaxy are more than 100trillion stars. And in the whole universe are somewhat around 100trillion galaxies, some smaller than ours, some bigger. So tere are somewhat around 100trillion * 100trillion stars in the universe.
How big is the chance that there is no intelligent life on all these billions over billions possible planets?
There if definate intelligent life somewhere else than on our shity small planet, the only question is if they are able to reach us and if they want to reach us. Maybe they think that we are not worth to be visited.

Even with such a huge "chance" you can't say for sure there is intelligent life outside of our planent. I believe it when its scientifically proved. I'm not a believer.
