is there any way at all to have fast respawns on the non-ctf maps, normally my spawn times on ctf_2fort is 4-5 seconds (not quite instant but fast) but when I switch to pl_goldrush or tc_hydro the respawn time is like 12-15 seconds

tc_hydro and pl_goldrush don't abide by mp_respawnwavetime, so you either need a plugin that respawns them after x seconds, or edit the maps (either manually or let Stripper: Source do it).

Nice plugin

I use it for my Surf server, set to 1 second for both teams, nice fast, doesnt lag. 1 second is just right for instant respawn.

There is actually a way to achieve "true" instant spawn.
mp_forcerespawn 1
This disables the "spectator" view completely, and instead you just respawn the second you die.

Other than that, you can just...
mp_disable_respawn_times 1
For the normal 1 second of spectator, and into instant respawn.

No plugin is required for either in TF2!

Doing this does this place you under the Custom Tab?

Yes, setting fast respawn with any of the stock cvars will put you in the custom tab.

@Sturmeh: I know about TFTrue, that's not mp_respawnwavetime though so my point is still valid.

Not anymore. Valve have destroyed the custom tab with the heavy, so now they just appear in the normal internet list but with tags of the mods.

This is very helpful and was a wise decision by Valve.
