When I play left4dead 2 like 2 hours to 3 hours the game closes and I get this error: ed_alloc no free edicts steam - any solution for that?

I "fix" some maps by removing some entities with stripper, but sometimes is a plugin that is creating too many entities in the map, reaching its limit, you need to analyze.

I'm not sure you can do much about it if you are a player on a Server since the crash took place on the Server.

If you are referring to a Server that you operate that crashes with that error..... this may help.

I tried several different solutions and only one worked well. I recommend using the [ANY]Security entity limit plugin by the talented Benoist3012.

Key features that work well for me:
1. You can set your own threshold limit for the number of active entities before action is taken in the plugin.
2. It will remove the oldest entities first and not the newest.
3. Plugin will execute a config of your making with actions that will take place to reduce edicts. In my case I have have it unload a couple of plugins if the number of edicts get too high.
