RevEmu is a "steam" emulator that generates you a fake steamid, which allows you to get into "mixed auth" servers, if you run a "cracked" version of the game. I can't go into detail how it works (or it'll count as spreading it).
There's also p48, shorthand for "Protocol 48"... Again, no details.

RevEmu is a custom client that gives you an ID based on (hardware?) akin to the legit SteamIDs, of course the server needs to be running dproto and it must allow such clients.
