This is a bug in AMXX me thinks. But if I'm correct, it has been fixed in the newest version of AMXX. Upgrade to 1.0 if you haven't already.

IT just means that the data is being sent over an unreliable channel too quickly, and the client can't handle it. So they disconnect. Well, they FREEZE and eventually disconnect!

I'm not sure if this has ben fixed though. It was a problem in WC3FT, but I haven't seen it happen for a while now!

I'm having this reliable channel overflow problem as well on my dedicated LINUX DOD server. The server is DUAL 2.8GHz, 1GB DDRAM, with 100MBit uplink. I have AMXX 1.0 installed with the following plugins:

; AMX Mod X plugins

; Admin Base - Always one has to be activated
admin.amxx ; admin base (required for any admin-related)
;admin_sql.amxx ; admin base - SQL version (comment admin.amxx)

; Basic
admincmd.amxx ; basic admin console commands
adminhelp.amxx ; help command for admin console commands
adminslots.amxx ; slot reservation
multilingual.amxx ; Multi-Lingual management

; Menus
menufront.amxx ; front-end for admin menus
cmdmenu.amxx ; command menu (speech, settings)
plmenu.amxx ; players menu (kick, ban, client cmds.)
telemenu.amxx ; teleport menu (Fun Module required!)
mapsmenu.amxx ; maps menu (vote, changelevel)

; Chat / Messages
adminchat.amxx ; console chat commands
antiflood.amxx ; prevent clients from chat-flooding the server
scrollmsg.amxx ; displays a scrolling message
imessage.amxx ; displays information messages
adminvote.amxx ; vote commands

; Map related
nextmap.amxx ; displays next map in mapcycle
timeleft.amxx ; displays time left on map

; Configuration
pausecfg.amxx ; allows to pause and unpause some plugins
statscfg.amxx ; allows to manage stats plugins via menu and commands

; Day of Defeat
stats.amxx ; stats on death or round end (DoD Module required!)
statssounds.amxx ; precache plugin for stats plugins
stats_logging.amxx ; weapons stats logging (DoD Module required!)

; Custom - Add 3rd party plugins here
mapmanager.amxx
amxx_piss.amxx
dod_bladez_only_by_vote.amxx
dod_tkrevenge.amxx
dod_teamjoinplus.amxx
dod_gore_196.amxx

This is extremely annoying. How do I fix this? No one seems to be able to definitively figure this out as I've searched almost the whole WWW for a solution.......it's not the MOTD.text file either.

They are pretty much saying that everyones internet sucks and thats why it gets over flowed disconnecting the players... and actully some of this is true because sometimes I play my own server on my laptop with wireless and it does get disconnected with that error than other people. But its kinda annoying, but If id get just a few more people on my server, then it would be good ebcause it would kick ppl that have been playing forever and let some new ppl join.

It's not an Internet connection. It is a server side problem and I'm not sure whether AMXX is causing it.

robbob4 as usual you don't really know what you're talking about

I can guarantee you that this problem in 99,9999% of cases is because of one or more badly written (custom) plugins of yours.

Not to mention it's been known that the culprit was WC3FT that always did it, if your not running it you've never gotten that error. It's been fixed, lukily, so....

As JGHG said, it's always a plugin, always will be. try running like 10 players on a terrible internet that only holds like 5. No overflow there.

Ok so the community generally believes this is a plugin. I identified the above plugins I am running above, have any of them been known to produce reliable channel overflow errors?

In addition while doing some testing last night on my server I found out that if I execute "servermaps" in the console it will kick me off the server with reliable channel overflow as the cause. I currently run about 280 maps on the server. It's kinda weird though because if I execute "maps *" it will lag (because of the amount of maps) but it does not kick me or produce a reliable channel overflow error.

Anyones experiences and input would be appreciated...especially those of you who run LINUX. Overflow errors drive me absolutely @#$# insane and piss off my users. Thanks for the help thus far.

Because it's sending too much information to one spot. That'd be like sending something by tsay of Csay onto your screen, if a plugin did it and uotputted ALOT, it would create a reliable overflow if I'm not mistaken.

That is a very weird observation, servermaps crashes you, but maps * does not. Is this a listen server I pressume? Because I don't think amx_rcon servermaps would output into your console unless it's a listen server.

Icurrently have FC3 and am looking to install a HLDS on it soon, just haven't had the time and download times to do it. And I'm a linux nub, but I'll look into it.

Do you REALLY need that many maps?

StephenR: Have I got the solution for you: AMX Map Handler
I wrote it originally just to update maps.ini but it also replaces "listmaps", which could overflow clients if you have LOTS of maps on the server.
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=2910
So the Map Handler replaces "listmaps" with a cmd similar to amx_help because you can list maps over several pages.
