There seems to be an explanation under the post were he provided the binaries.
As they didn't match the source I just removed them. But I think the real reason why it didn't
match the source was because he tried adding logging to the plugin. But there could
have been other things.

Anyway, his CSS binary is still at p.20. Maybe it didn't have that url in it as it wasn't removed.

As far as I know, the "issue" only affected the latest version, all prior builds were fine.

Well, I guess all I want to know is whether what dasister wrote stops DOS attacks, because right after I disabled it (thinking it must've been bad somehow since dasister was banned) my server was hit with a DOS attack by the same guy whose DOS attack a week ago prompted me to post here to begin with. He launches DOS attacks against servers where he's banned.

So does the darn thing work or not? If it does I'd rather re-enable it.

These prior builds aren't working with the current version of L4D2, unfortunately. So I am left with no DOS protection at this point...

Yeah, if you like no-steam websites being advertised on your server.

Blarg, seems like it's that or get hit with DOS by jagoffs who aren't happy that they got banned... I never saw those adverts by the way, where were they coming up?

edit: I ran the plugin for a week and never saw any ads. I don't doubt they're in the code and that the admins here did what they thought was appropriate, but the ads never came up for me. Re-enabling the plugin for now.

I think it was only the plugin info string, I'm not the person that looked into it so I can't be 100% sure.
So, not exactly major, but it was there.

For clarification:
Binary downloads were removed because they didn't match the source.
Dasister was banned for advertising no-steam.

Fair enough. Still he helped me, it's a shame things happened this way.

Don't suppose anyone else would be so kind as to do a clean version?

Yeah. The prior linux builds for L4D1/2 linux are not working.

I tried learning how to crosscompile with cygwin with the guide on the wiki page,
but it wasn't working very well. Not to mention the guide for not even being updated once in 3 years

I am on Windows and the stuff in the OP isn't working for windows either. Only what dasister posted.

Now if I could just find the ip in my server logs I could have my GSP do a range block. But obviously DOS can come from anywhere so we still need this plugin. Thanks for looking into it

Binaries compiled against current sdk versions attached. Includes all engines except for Swarm (Alien Swarm and Dino D-Day) as the interface that this uses seems to have been removed.

I almost always use cygwin for compiling linux bins of SM extensions and MMS plugins. IIRC, I didn't have to vary from the wiki instructions at all, but it's been a while since I set it up. What part are you having trouble with? If it helps for the future, I've included the Makefile I used in the linux zip.
