Now that MySQL 4.1 is at Production Release, I decided to upgrade to it.

When I tried this I got this error everytime it accessed the Database:

L 12/06/2004 - 01:01:02: [MySQL] DB Connection failed(1251): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

I tried MySQL 5.0 and same results, all of this on Windows Server.

Then being curious, I tried on Linux Redhat, I upgraded the Server to 4.1 and the same results came up.

Every plugin that uses DBI will show that message, I concluded this is possibly an DBI Module bug.

I researched the internet and I found no solution to this problem.

MySQL 4.1 and 5.0 are actually significantly different than previous versions and I'm not surprised that the librariers I compiled against would fail.

Next release I can try compiling against the new libraries

That is because of the new password section.
if you set "old-password" in my.cnf everything works fine.

I'll go with ToT | Viper's suggestion for now.

I don't want to break backward compatibility.
MySQL 4.0 is the current stable version as far as I understand anyway.
