Tell ya what, let me finish building my new rig so I can actually launch L4D 1/2 (it doesn't play nice with 1.6ghz / 256mb ram), and I'll see if I can get something to work. Should have the rig finished by Monday.

v1.1.1 has been released. Fixes a mistake made in sm_hidename which prevented the proper hiding of player names.

Yes, it will prevent the chat that appears when a player changes their name, either by configuration or targeting a client with sm_hidename.

thetwistedpanda, thank you! I have been looking for this and thought I'd have to delve into modifying Dr!fter's extension to make this happen. I've been looking for a way to do this to prevent dead players from 'ghosting' important information to alive players. Originally name changing when dead was blocked, so I'll try and go back and add this functionality using HookUserMessage. Can you still look at the scoreboard and discover the updated name? This just blocks the display of 'XX changed their name to YY', correct? So I may still need to look at the extension more long term.

For your name change kicking, I did something similar but abandoned it and used an array of time integers, if a player changes their name within X seconds of their last change, it kicks them. I'm very strict and have it set to like 20 seconds right now but even 1 second will block the script kiddies.
