I have similar problems as yours, my server.cfg is the similar to yours too. But my problem is slightly different, my server did showed up in the steam group server list on bottom right of the L4D2 main menu, and I can play it, but I don't seem to be able to get others to join into it.

As for trying to connect it via the lobby, it just won't connect, even though I've typed this "mm_dedicated_force_server xxxxxxxx : xxxx" into the console, it still won't connect. I've been trying to figure how to get my server public for several days now, I'm tired of only me being able to play on my server and no one else, not even my friends are able to connect into it!

Sounds familiar. I ended up not adding an IP address to the run line, just the port. Then I was able to connect via lobby.

My Start Line:
Code:
 /games/left4dead2/srcds_run -game left4dead2 -ip XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX +map c5m1_waterfront -port 27015 -autoupdate +maxplayers 8 -pidfile srcds_5.pid -tickrate 66 +fps_max 500
Yes I do know the Tick and all that isnt needed its just part of the start script I use for all of my valve servers

Startscript can be found at: http://forums.steamgames.com/forums/...44&postcount=1
