install libstdc++ maybe it will solve your problem , however on newer versions of linux this problem persist even with libstdc++ installed and other hl1 mods like adrenaline gamer,natural selection,opposing force,digital paintball...

Should I do that before/during/after starting server?
Before:
Code:
libstdc++.so.6
libstdc++.so.6.0.8
BTW my server's root is in /root/hlds.

i don't know for sure if this will fix your problem but you should try to install compat-libstdc++ package
and you didn't say what linux distribution are you using

there is no compat-libstdc++ package for debian based distros so i don't know what exactly should you install
in any case i just tried to run esf on my linux box and it gives me the same error , and it's strange because i remember that i tried this some time ago ( 1 year) , i have the same OS no changes and it worked then if i remember correctly it was hlds build 3651
maybe this will help you out with something http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/...howtopic=34995

and valve mailing list with similar problem http://www.mail-archive.com/hlds_lin.../msg48721.html
