I already posted the link to the answer of this question in my previous post. This is a HL2 Limitation, that sometimes the decals are not visible the first time (when they have to be downloaded by the client). A reconnect / restart (sometimes Steam restart is needed) solves this problem...

Assuming I have everything implemented correctly, I get a crash upon attempting to paint a decal. Either using !paintdecal or via the menu system. I have attached mdmp file in hopes of helping to resolve or tell me where I messed up. Same for performing aim.

I did make a map.cfg for the decal using the provided coordinates, knowing that they needed to be replaced. All I have in the file is the matching decal name within it.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm...what plugin version are you using (v1.02 ^^) (what hl2-mod server?)
Try to test it with the decal, that comes with the package (No modifications needed, it should work, when all files are copied to their paths).
If the example works, then attach the cfg relevant stuff and the decal itself...

Hey Stingbyte,

I used everything from your post regarding v1.02. My following attemts still crash the server upon using !paintdecal and !aimpos in chat as well as via the decal menu. decal menu seems to work fine otherwise.

1. I applied your original example setup/config. -- crash per above using what was in v.102 ZIP file

2. For kicks, I also tested with obtaining the plugin directly from compiling in that same post -- same crash result.

Lastly to note, the plugin does not show up publically in the Rules pane of HLSW. Upon issuing sm plugins list via HLSW console, the plugin is listed BUT it states as v1.01......

Please take a look when you get a chance. And this is for TF2. (I thought my siggie would have tipped that off, sorry)

Thanks!!

@ifx: thx, np.

@MjrNuT: I changed the version number of the plugin too, I forgot that, when I did my last changes ( I also hoped, that Berni would put it on the first page as main download...). MapDecals does not have a public version cvar.
The plugin is already in use on TF2 and CS:S Servers, without a problem. So please turn on debug mode for sourcemod plugins and then post the log output here.

The latest version can now be downloaded from the first page

Error: xxxx not found in the list.

My decals.cfg:

	"Maize"
	{

		"path"	"decals/custom/example/tsgkcorn512x512"
	}

	"Akado"
	{

		"path"	"decals/custom/akado_logo"
	}

}
Files:
\materials\decals\custom\akado_logo.vmt
\materials\decals\custom\akado_logo.vtf

akado_logo.vmt:
Code:
"LightmappedGeneric"
{
   "$basetexture" "decals\custom\akado_logo"
   "$decal" 1
   "$decalscale" 1
}
All files uploaded to client normally.

When trying to paint akado_logo getting this error. Tried everything - doesn't work.

Hm, decals.cfg and vmt both seem to be ok.
xxxx not found in the list. ?? You are trying it with sm_paintdecal akado, or?

Are both decals not working, or is it only yours, that doesn't work? It would be nice to have a bit more information about log output on the server, so please turn on logging for the plugin and post that information too.
