I am getting error for basechat.smx in sourcemod. I just want to know for what function basechat.smx is used and if i disable it any problem occurs?

you should show this 'error'... as it is a sourcemod plugin you should NOT be getting errors...

take the basechat plugin from your version of sourcemod and replace it.

Basechat.smx is for sm_chat , sm_say etc. , there are customized versions of it with colors.

You should post your error but seeing as how it's a plugin included with the SM package it's likely not going to give any errors unless you modified it incorrectly.
