I am looking into starting up a new server, I had access to a friends FTP before.

Looking at most webservers, I would think using it to host map files would violate the acceptable use policy in some way, 'transferring/linking to a third party'.

Where do you all host?

Do you mean where do you place the maps?

go to HLDS/cstrike/maps

In there, you add all the maps
then go to

addons/amxmodx/config/maps.ini

and you add the map name (with no .bsp)

Correct, it will violate most FREE Web Host's ToS. Most PAID Web Hosts allows this

That was a policy listed for a paid service, from Lunarpages I believe.

The one you listed doesn't cover FastDL. LunarPages does not appear to have anything specifically forbidding FastDL.

If your upload speed is 2 MB, install XAMPP and set up webserver. It is easy and better.
