Windows does this cool thing called locking their files in use..... HATE THAT SHIT WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!!!!!! plays a damn sound have to close the process to delete the sound..... any way...

well the whole point is not to lose traffic when updaing hlds, so obviously with a 24/7 busy server it's gonna be hard.

even the slightest offtime can be bad, no matter how small the traffic is.

anyway, copy the server, updated it, test if needed and put it back is how i do it now if i need to

Just the only thing you need is -autoupdate parameter in server start.
Then it will be updated when your server is crashed and then restarted.
Just put that in the startup parameter and never think about latest HLDS update...
