there's only one way to test an anti cheat program really ......

sm plugins list

will show if it's loaded or not. The day I installed this it caught 3 guys that I've been playing with. One even figured out how to protest a ban ....

To test it, turn off VAC and change sv_cheats and any other cheat restricted cvars with Cheat Engine (not detected by VAC and have been around for years, but turn it off anyway just to be sure).

Hey, I have a problem with KAC:
//edit2: i noticed that the server crashes now when a player enters some chat commands like "rank" or "/hls_skill"

my installed plugins:
Code:
plugin_print
---------------------
0: "SteamBans Server Plugin V:2.5.5 C:2.5.5%s"
1: "Metamod:Source 1.7.0"
2: "Mani Admin Plugin 2007 V1.2BetaS VSP, www.mani-admin-plugin.com"
---------------------

meta list
Listing 4 plugins:
  [01] SteamBans Detox (1.1) by sslice/opi
[02] SourceMod (1.1.0) by AlliedModders LLC
  [03] CS:S Tools (1.1.0) by AlliedModders LLC
[04] SDK Tools (1.1.0) by AlliedModders LLC

sm plugins list
[SM] Listing 1 plugin:
  01 "Kigen's Anti-Cheat" (1.1.6) by Kigen

can anyone help me?
or perhaps someone fix this bug?

btw: im sure it's KAC, when i deaktivate KAC everthing works just fine.
but it's the best anti-cheat plugin i know, so i don't want so kick it...

PS: it's an absolutly clean installation, just reinstalled the server today....

//edit: read the last pages of this tread and installed metamod 1.4.4! now this problem is fixed
sry for wasting your time! (no crashes when a player chages his name or something like this)

//edit2: i noticed that the server crashes now when a player enters some chat commands like "rank" or "/hls_skill"

I'm on the same lan as one of my public servers, and using HLSW to rcon into it I get:

Quote:
09:49:17 L 02/11/2009 - 10:06:29: rcon from "x.x.x.x:1669": command "echo HLSW: Test"
09:49:23 kac_version
09:49:23 "kac_version" = "1.1.6"
notify singleplayer replicated
- KAC version
09:49:23 L 02/11/2009 - 10:064: rcon from "x.x.x.x:1669": command "kac_version"
So yeah, it works.

Remoting in to my home PC I get the same results.

i dont understand all this anti cheat malarky but all i need to know is, is KAC better than VAC for left 4 dead because i am very suspicioius of some people who play on my server and i know there are many hacks for this game at min tht are VAC un detectable so i was wondering A: would this be a better plugin to detect this and B: does this 100% worrk for left 4 dead

KAC is very easy to bypass, there are hundreds of advanced cheats that KAC does not see at all )

It is simply just not possible to make a 100% proof anti-cheat to detect all possible cheaters no matter what you use. For every single anti-cheat out there - there are dozens cheats that bypasses those.
