Hello guys ! I just asambled my new system. It is a i9 9900k with ddr4 2x16 GB 3000mhz, with an m2 ssd 512GB. I installed Linux, ubuntu 19, replacing my old dell poweredge 410.

I made some test on CS GO at 128 tickrate, overclocked at 5.2 Ghz with 24 bots on respawn mode and my SV and VAR gone red like on my dell poweredge 410r with 2 x X5672 xeon processors.

and my questions are:

1. I have to disable something from bios ?
2 Linux is not a friend with cs go servers over 22 players ? and i need to go for windows ?
3 Testing with bots is not relevant ?

Picture with the system.

You might be better off with using Debian, since Ubuntu is dropping support for things Steam uses; however, a Steam developer stated they would continue to support Ubuntu. You most definitely do not need to use Windows to get great(er) performance, just need to make the necessary changes to get the benefits you want.

Try the following:
1A) Install tuned
1B) Use XanMod Kernel
2) Set sv_parallel_sendsnapshot to 1 (INFO)
3) Testing with bots gives you a good idea how the CPU will work under heavy load, you will see considerably less CPU usage with real players.
sv_stressbots "1" // - If set to 1, the server calculates data and fills packets to bots

You could also try setting your XMP profiles after you've done the above testing to see if there is any difference.

If using linux .. i prefer centos. From my experience runs better with centos.
Install RT kernel, tuned with throughput-performance.

Check my server how it performs. (in signature).
Is running with Centos, 5.1 kernel (with RT patch) and tuned-adm is setted to throughput-performance

Thanks guys for answers.

Zuby24, i prefer to linux than windows server. I never instaled and use win server.. maybe is good i don't know, but linux is made for servers and now with the dextop mode is easy.
I enter on your server, is very nice. I am hosting on my one.

Maxximou5: I installed tuned mode, but is not doing his job very well. i installed something else and is doing much better. My var with tuned was on red and with what i instaled to pot my server on performance was almost on yellow all the time.

i installed xanmode kernel.. I have not noticed any improvements but i will let my sistem run on it.

i test this comand "sv_parallel_sendsnapshot to 1" i notice that my cpu start using 108.8% from 102.4%, but i did not notice any improvements, on the contrary it was moving in pictures.

I tested now just with xanmode kernel, server not overclocked with 24 boots at 128 tickrate and the var was like 1.750-3.250, and after i overclocked at 5 Ghz my var was 0.544-1.

I tested with 13 players on server, not overclocked (3.6Ghz) and my cpu core was like ~30% at 128 tickrate.

is it okay?

im think u cant clock to 5ghz.... u can but im think only few cores will work... im not sure... also windows is better only beacuse clock things and tuning cpu, also multithreading.... im using i9 9900k 36 slots 128 tick on ubuntu and sv is 6 var is 0. something... but i lose much time to put cpu at 4.5-4.7 stable whitout underclocking and turbo boost... its much easyer at windows to do that than on linux.

@MAMAC
I host on my one, the system from the picture is mine. I overclocked it at 5.2 Ghz, over, i did not tried. I will make a test at 5.2 Ghz and stress the cpu and see if all cores are running at 5.2Ghz.

SRCDS is runing on Linux in Single threaded and u say that on windows server is multithreading ? I heard is runing 100% percent from a core and a little from another core.. just this is the diference. Am I wrong ? cand give me a proof that SRCDS on windows is multithreading ?

i just say that i host csgo servers for many years and i change many pc specs (dedi and hostings) and i try all os including windows on same machines and check that windows performing best... idk why but he use more than 1 core. but now with sv_parallel_sendsnapshot debian and ubuntu run smooth too... but ppl complain on my servers that on 128 tick with sv_parallel_sendsnapshot they cant hit anything, hitbox wrong or something... maybe its bug from something else but i see many ppl complain
