In another post somewhere, I was reading awhile ago, someone mentioned wanting to change the default server.cfg files name, this can be done by using this command or specifying it two different ways;
1. servercfgfile filename.cfg
Though there isn't really a logical reason not to use server.cfg that I can think of.
In your default server.cfg file you may specify other .cfg files to be included, therefore everytime your server starts/changes maps,etc it will not only run the server.cfg but other .cfg files you specified in the server.cfg. (this can be useful for cleanliness of files)
For instance;
My server.cfg file reads:
// START
hostname "Pro's Delicatessen"
phys_pushscale 15
mp_c4timer 30
// END
But I want it to include the game.cfg file as well so I would add the line:
exec game.cfg (or exec /path/to/file.cfg)
It would look like so:
// START
hostname "Pro's Delicatessen"
phys_pushscale 15
mp_c4timer 30
// exec
exec game.cfg
// END
This will make it so it will load which ever file.cfg specified each time you start the server/change maps,etc.
An more organized suggestive way of doing it would be to have each variable commands in different .cfg files like so;
server.cfg
// servername
hostname "Pro's Delicatessen"
// exec
exec sv.cfg
// END
sv.cfg
// sv_variables
sv_gravity 800
sv_alltalk 0
// exec
exec mp.cfg
echo "Loaded sv.cfg file."
// END
mp.cfg
// mp_variables
mp_c4timer 30
mp_startmoney 1500
mp_timelimit 0
mp_winlimit 15
mp_freezetime 4
mp_friendlyfire 0
mp_tkpunish 1
mp_flashlight 1
mp_footsteps 1
mp_hostagepenalty 13
mp_falldamage 5
mp_roundtime 5
mp_spawnprotectiontime 5
mp_forcecamera 1
echo "Loaded mp.cfg file."
// END
And so on.
