Personally, I don't know anything about these L4D2 crashes you are talking about. We have a very high test bar for L4D2 that includes several days of live testing on top of extreme focus testing for changes we made. I am so confident of it being crash-free on L4D2 that this extension gets distributed with the CEVO configs to 100+ servers every time we release a new update.
If there are L4D1 crashes, then I can understand since we neither of the two developers (XBetaAlpha and I) actually run any L4D1 servers anymore.
Then please post some error logs if it's not letting more than 8 players connect.
There is every time the same error in the log:

But the "status" say that the server is ever time unreserved and the message ingame [SM] A fully lobby has connected, unreserved the server............
shows, the server has then e.g. 12/32 player but it seems there are only specs or disconnected or cant connect, i dont know....
