So, yesterday Epic Games announced their new Unreal Tournament using Unreal Engine 4.
Diffrent from the previous games, the development started yesterday and everybody with an Engine License ($19 / month) can download the source-code, modify it and then re-submit it and maybe they approve your code.
Also the game will be entirely free, which means that there no microtransactions or something like that. Just fully free.
They will probably make a Marketplace for Devs / Modders / Modelers where they can sell their stuff and get 50% of the sales.

Spoiler
Here’s the plan:
We’ve created a small team of UT veterans that are beginning work on the project starting today.
From the very first line of code, the very first art created and design decision made, development will happen in the open, as a collaboration between Epic, UT fans and UE4 developers.
We’ll be using forums for discussion, and Twitch streams for regular updates.
If you are a fan and you want to participate, create a free account and join the forum discussion.
All code and content will be available live to UE4 developers on GitHub.
The game will be true to its roots as a competitive FPS.
Development will be focused on Windows, Mac and Linux.
So what’s the catch?
It will take many months until the game is playable by gamers. This is real development from scratch.
When the game is playable, it will be free. Not free to play, just free.
We’ll eventually create a marketplace where developers, modders, artists and gamers can give away, buy and sell mods and content. Earnings from the marketplace will be split between the mod/content developer, and Epic. That’s how we plan to pay for the game.
A lot of this is brand new for Epic, and we don’t yet have everything figured out. Things will probably definitely go wrong from time to time, and when they do, we’ll have to work through them together. There will be a lot of tough decisions to make, and not every feature will make it into the game. But if you’re a fan of Unreal Tournament, a UE4 developer, or a future modder – or if you just want to learn how we make games – we hope you’ll join us. It’s going to be fun.

Is anyone of you intrested in this big project? Well, if you know that you may want to do something for this game, here a quick guide on what to do based on your skills.
Good at programming? Then you could get involved with helping build the game itself, or mods etc.
Good at map making? Well you could obviously get involved with making new maps, or variations of classic maps etc.
Good at digital design? You could help with texture making, concept art etc.
Good at website development? You could help create/contribute to a community website that brings UT enthusiasts together and provide lots of content on the new UT etc.
Don't have the skills but have the ideas? Contribute your ideas on the forums, or team up with someone who does have the skills to make your ideas come to fruition etc.
Don't have the time to contribute a great deal but want to help out casually? You can help by spreading the word, tell a few of your mates about the project and how cool it's going to be etc.
Enjoy running clans/teams? Start up a team/division early for the game to start growing interest and developing groups of like-minded UT heads etc.
New to it all but want to help somewhere? Read the forums and see who is working on what, and look for somewhere your services could be used. Or if you want to start up something by yourself get involved in tutorials (such as the Unreal Engine 4 tutorials) and start your programming/modding/design skills from scratch etc.
As you can see, there are not many people yet who work on this. So, if you have time and fun on programming, just join this great project.
