So you only read the first paragraph of my post?

He was making up some stuff about talking to his lawyer

I knew he wasn't when he said something like this (I didn't have it logged):

him: My lawyer wants to know if you specifically put "this is a copy" in the source
me: no, but it can't possibly NOT be a copy, because you can't literally "move" the information from one computer to another, therefore I can do what I want with MY copy of it
him: No, you're still held responsible since that's bootlegging

I never agreed to that (hence my statement on no agreements), but according to them it was "implied".

There should be something in writing for something like this so people dont get confused about things.
A simple contract explaining things

A work for hire is when a person creates a copyrightable work but does not own it. How can this be? The Copyright Act allows for the copyright to go not to the creator but to the person who hired the creator to make the work. The law treats the creator as if he did not even participate. The employer owns the copyright and it is as if they created the work themselves without any help from the actual creator.

A work for hire contract is something you should try to avoid. Fortunately, there are specific criteria needed to create a work for hire. A copyrightable work will be considered a work for hire if you are an employee and create the work in the course of your employment. For example, people who create computer programs for IBM are making works for hire. IBM will own the copyright to the final program, not the programmer. If you are not a regular employee, there must be a written contract specifically stating it is a work for hire contract.

No, I read the whole thing. I just happened to have posted it before you edited your post and wrote up your third paragraph.

No.. He paid him for his time, not his plugin..

Unless you sign a legal binding contract, you are free to do whatever you may want with a bit of source code..

PS: If someone else made a request here, anybody could make the plugin.

You could tell right away that he has no lawyer after this line. Its not called bootlegging.

Plus lawyer fees are alot more then what he paid you for the plugin.
