I stumbled upon this a lot when I was working on the db builder for TFTDB and I have absolutely no idea why it even exists. Can anyone explain it?

They might be korean and korean-for-adult.

The translation files are exactly the same size, but that is a good especulation.

he's right.

the very early version of Steam has Korean translation for Korean teens.

those who play with this translation option can't see red blood or some gore effects.

"korean" perhaps not be used for now. 'cuz this translation system messed the user up.

and translation file exists for people who has no idea how "korean" and "koreana" different.

it's actually same file at almost games tho.

that's y "korean" and "koreana" stand for, SM system reads client's "cl_language" cvar to get the client's languge.

for Korean users, it's "koreana" for default.

but it can be "korean" as well.
