This is why SteamCMD is so unreliable. So tell me, is that the issue? I am just trying to get things to work right.

Client or Server? Steam or SteamCMD? You failed to mention where you got your files from...

Since I am hearing alot of gossip that Steam is messed up and people say you should get the server files from SteamCMD rather than the Steam client...

I'm just trying to get Left 4 Dead to work with Sourcemod and i'm already running into problems before sourcemod is applied...

I thought it was implied that it was the server and from SteamCMD (which is where you get the server from since Valve killed off HLDSUpdateTool).

I used SteamCMD with this install script on my Linux machine:

force_install_dir ../l4d

quit

and then ran the server and used the version command.
