I know that you can get the golden wrench through the TF2items extension, but is there a way that every weapon would be like that? When you kill someone they turn to gold?

I have no idea how to use TF2items, so I couldn't make my own code for it. :S

The "set turn to gold" attribute is HARD CODED to the Golden Wrench, a plugin that makes any weapon turn an enemy into gold when killed would be a miracle

While we're on the topic, does anyone know if you can still modify the wrench to turn people to gold and have it be side-effect free? I thought they made it so you couldn't emulate the golden wrench anymore.

I'm not good with coding yet, so I asked asherkin if he could do that for me... Just get the TF2Items extension and put this in the tf2items.weapons.txt file...

The attribute only works on any of the Engi's melee weapons.

Yeah, It's easy to do with that extension. The thing is, I'm pretty sure something in the engi update changed so that you can no longer have a fake golden wrench. I don't think the turn to gold effect works anymore on emulated wrenches, and I think I remember hearing about a fix for an engi bug involving something hard coded in to the normal wrench, which is screwed with when you fake a golden wrench. Hence, I don't think it works anymore.
