Is there a way to save the console of the server to a log on a linux hosted servers?
I have problem with crashes and i get no errors in logs or what ever...

i tried the following but doesn't work

con_timestamp = 1

do you have access to your server startup line?(./hlds_run ip port maxplayers etc)

on the linux version, no, but on the test i guess so, since is hosted in my pc..
but i will ask the hosting company to set that up for me on the linux host
just tell me how to do it

Just write "log on" in the server.cfg then check the logs folder in the cstrike folder.

did that, but i want all the console, because i get server crashes and i get nothing in the error logs anymore

You will get everything that's in the server console. I don't know if linux prints errors in the console but if it does you should get it.

Edit: Just because your server crashes doesn't mean there will be a error in the console.

well, if i see all the console i could see better in what circumstances the crash is occuring...
but from what i know "log on" doesn't provide a very detailed console log, i want it as detailed as possible

Well you are wrong. It will log everything that's in the console.

okay, i will give it a try, but if anyone else knows how i can get more info from the console, please post here
(including chat etc, i want everything from the console to be saved )

but I'm pretty sure your hosting company does this already
if it's using GameCP, look in the root folder of your FTP for a file caled screenlog.[number]
where number is your service number

example



this contains full console logs including chat and everything, like copy pasting from HLDS console


also the startup thingy doesn't work on windows
