So, many server-operators think that FastDL is difficult to set up, so I wanted to make it easier. So the plan was to create something similar to the OpenFastDL project but that project seemed outdated, didn't have any content for CS:GO & was serving all content from one node in EU.
So I created a website called Fast-dl.com and hopefully made something useful

Here how it works, you add/edit your sv_downloadurl in your server.cfg file and you should be good to go. (I would have loved to have a plugin for this but I've never created anything for Sourcemod and feel like I'd rather leave that to a professional , if anyone is interested, I'd be grateful)

The service is using Cloudflare and is setup to cache all of the content for a week, hopefully that should work for now, it's an experiment and we'll have to see what happens =) Using Cloudflare means that the downloads should be geographically closer to the users no matter where they are (assuming you don't have your server where Cloudflare don't have pops). If the download isn't cached with Cloudflare it's retrieved from the storage/webserver from a 1Gig connection (should be enough thanks to Cloudflare).

Currently there is almost 132GB of files on the server and if there is any content missing (or you want to add your communitys custom sounds, etc, upload the files a place I can download them from, to save time, please bzip2 the files and then zip it if you know how to). You could also link to a public download page, like gamebanana and I'll do my best to get it on the server.

If you have any suggestions/ideas/feedback, please, post it bellow

sound like users are gonna be waiting at your mercy until you add the new content

idk what lead you believe setting up a fastdl was hard for users, on NFO you can get a web/fastdl server for meager $3/month and even if dragging and dropping files is too hard their game servers come with automatic websync option which with one click adds all custom files(compressed too btw) to the fastdl server

Suggestion: Make an upload page for trusted community owners / operators, this way they don't have to wait for you to add their content. Have them sign in through Steam to verify their identity or something. And to prevent them from messing up other files just have the PHP upload script check to see if the file exists before performing the upload.

I go through 2TB easily in one month just on fastdl content.

I hope your rich because if you host a free public service like this it will require massive bandwidths.

I also have no limits.

However most hosts will have clauses that refer to fair play.

I cant imagine a host would allow petabytes of usage on a cheap unlimited usage plan.

Im just throwing the thought out there about bandwidth if 1000+ servers use such a service.

And? That's the contract/offer - NO LIMIT.

You don't must pay 300$+ for a download server.

The offer itself claiming unlimited traffic doesn't really matter. The real deal is what is written in the terms, which in 99% of all circumstances have a fair use, when listing "unlimited" traffic or other resources.

But if you are so sure... Link to your provider, product and all that.

Unlimited still usually have restrictions in place if you start consuming a lot of resources. I don't think anyone is trying to put you off doing it as the idea is a good one, but just making sure you know what you're getting is all.
