Now since TF2 is free to play, basically anyone can create new account, download TF2 for free, download some hacks, go on killing spree, get banned after few weeks by VAC or way more quickly by admin, BUT now he can create a new account again and download TF2 again for free and continue his rampage.

Yea, surely valve said that they "implemented" some system to catch such guys, but come on, we all know how valve works in this matter and their "valve time" in doing something useful.

So I wonder:
Is there any way to prevent free players from joining a server via some plugin? Can someone make such plugin?
This might sound elitist, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I'm from CS:S and I was going to try out TF2 tonight when I get home, but your point sounds fair.

Perhaps instead of free they could have permanently lowered the price to $5.00 instead? I'm sure that'd have attracted enough new players (including me).

The authticket has subscription information so it's doable with an extension.

Try banning by IP for now, I'm sure someone who's worried about this and has the know-how will do it eventually.
