Hi everyone. I'm wondering if you (or some of you) would be willing to help me.

I'd really like to see a 2020 "verified" or verifiable list of what is needed to run a CS:GO server.
So far, I believe what I've gathered is somewhat correct.
Yes, I'd love to be corrected.

64 tick: 1 core (over 2.4ghz, under 3.5ghz), 8gb ram: Should be enough for up to 24 players.
64 tick: 2 cores (over 2.4ghz, under 3.5ghz), 8gb ram: Should be enough for up to 32 players.
128 tick: 1 core (3.5ghz or higher), 4gb ram: Should be enough for 10 players.
128 tick: 2 cores (3.5ghz or higher), 8gb ram: Should be enough for 24 players.

I'm really curious and excited about this because I plan on starting my own server hosting service local to my country,
and if I'm not mistaken, theoretically, a Threadripper 3970X (base: 3.7ghz, turbo: 4.5ghz)
along with 128gb of ram should suffice to run 32x10 player 128 tick cs:go servers.

Also, if you have any information regarding scalability
(i.e. the Threadripper 3970X should be able to run 6x64 player 128 tick servers, please, speak up).

Also, for the sake of conversation, if the above is wrong, any pointers as to what these machines could run would be very much appreciated.
1. HP DL180 G6 with 2x Xeon E5640's (2x 4c/8t), 64gb of ddr3 ram, 2x1tb hdd's.
2. Machine with an i5 10400F (6c/12t), 32gb of ddr4 ram, 4x120gb ssd's

What you have gathered is not a "verifiable list of what is needed to run a CS:GO server", it is more of really a "verifiable list of the minimum requirements that are needed to run a CS:GO server". Everything listed is the minimum requirements in order for the server to be considered playable.

Your list is based on the assumption each server is running a GOTV with the probability it will be recording and saving demo files. This should be specified in the listing as it requires more than double the normal amount of RAM that is necessary to run it minimally. Since this is a minimum list, there also does not need to be 2 cores per server but rather 2 threads per server.

That is what we call overloading a machine and is one of the top reasons customers leave and never come back. A good business should never overload their machines, it is what keeps customers happy and increases the longevity of your server.

So in light of that, what would you recommend? You seem to know your shit when it comes to this stuff. If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, maybe you could help me figure this out better.

You said 4gb on 1 core would suit for *minimum* requirements of a 10 player 64 tick server.
How much does GOTV consume? Does it vary depending on the size of the server?
example: GOTV needs only 2gb on a 10 player 64 tick server, whereas on a 16 player 64 tick server it would require 4gb, and so on?

Again, if I'd just ask you directly,
How many 128 tick csgo servers could i run on a 6 core i5 10400F w/ 32gb of ram?
and
How many 128 tick csgo servers could i run on a 32 core TR 3970X w/ 128gb of ram?

The following should give you most of the information you need. The most important take away from all this should be:
  1. Never oversell/overload your machine
  2. Run Linux over Windows for the best performance (lowest var)
  3. GOTV needs nearly twice the amount of RAM per server (No GOTV = 2.5GBs minimum)
  4. This is all assuming you are running nothing but the game servers (or daemon) on the machine (no databases, web, etc.)

Rule of thumb is 1 CS:GO server PER core (or 2 threads) with 2 GBs of RAM standard vanilla install with no GOTV Recording. However things get real tricky once you start incorporating servers that use GOTV recording, at which point you need 5 GBs of RAM PER server. A standard match will shoot up your resource usage to about 4.5GBs. CS:GO is single threaded resource dependent, multicore will not help you help at all...
The following gives room for all servers to run GOTV and record, this is simply a coincidence not design.

Good afternoon people
I have a doubt, when we talk about 1 core for 2 cores, do you need to do any specific configuration?

You can just run 5 servers (instances) if you want, but you do not have to. It all depends on how you setup your environment.

I want to run 5 servers with the same plugins, how would you help me?

I was always creating a new user
