Yeah..so I'm sorry to be bumping this topic again, after about a month. Excuse me. I'm in the exact same situation as ham is in right now - and needless today, my girl's not in the best mood about this, and neither am I. Endless hours of searching on Google came up with nothing. Normally, i try not to ask questions on forums because I realize that it can be found with google, but this just doesn't seem to be the case with this.

The model is a Memorex 1GB MMP8561 MP3 player. It doesn't want to charge at all. We done tried switching USB ports, turning it on and off, and a whole bunch of other things.

If it's possible, Ham could you post here how exactly you were able to get it charging? I'd really appreciate it. And thanks to you all for reading this.

Get a new battery, your's is probably shot and can't hold a charge anymore

As much as I hate to say it, the battery was built in and the MP3 was bought..I think was it a week ago. It was never able to charge..

Did you press the button like 3-4 times while plugged into the USB cable to charge? Also: Is the software installed properly (drivers) on your computer? If not, the computer may be ignoring the device completely and not sending power to it (happened to me before as well).
