just compile the example.sp he had; thats the plugin.smx file

You can't compile it on the webcompiler. That plugin uses a custom include which the web compiler does not support.

Ever since the last update that required new gamedata, I have had several reports from my users that they were autobalanced anyway, even though I have them setup for autobalance protection with this extension+plugin.

Has anyone else noticed occuring? I see no errors in my logs. Next step I'll probably add logging to the sample plugin and see what is up.

Note: I am using the new extension+plugin+gamedata provided by psychonic

Do you have links to what you are using that is working? do you have to compile to get it to work or will the smx from the first post work ok? It constantly crashes for me anytime a teambalance evaluation comes up. I am using latest dev snapshot still no luck.

PolyQuad, try psychonic's remake of the plugin on Page 12 of this thread. It seems to work, though there are reports of the occasional autobalance even when protected.

I added logging to the plugin to see if I can find anything out. So far nothing new...

we get balanced all the time using this plugin+extension

Seems Psyducks version of this is crashing the server shortly after a player spawns, and the other version by Wazz is giving a

I did discover over the weekend that the virtual offsets for the CanBeAutobalanced function changed with last week's TF2 update. If you haven't already, you will want to update the extension's gamedata.txt file as follows:
