If the weapon isn't compatible with the model's class, it will cause the model to go "civilian" as there is no animation for that specific weapon. This may be the case.

Depending on how the model was rigged, it will be lying down, or standing up.

Check the animations on HLMV and you'll see what class the affected model is rigged to.

Well, no, sadly I dont think that's the case.

The model simply becomes a ragdoll, which only happens if the player is dead. And in this case, the boss cannot even move when this bug occurs, so I don't see why the rig would be the issue.
