Running latest SourceMod/MetaMod snapshots as per the Snapshot pages.

sm_rename causes the new name to be an apostrophe no matter what new name you enter.

EDIT: No wait, when I send an " in chat in TF2, it turns into a ' for some reason.

Yep, use the console from now on. Apparently this is how it is in CSGO as well. The chat box turns all " into ' before a plugin has the chance to process it.

It has been single-quote in CSGO chat from what i remember all the time. I made a fix for this using a process for all arguments and bind them, creating a string and output whatever making the quotes useless

Edit: Didn't see it was regarding TF2, probably last update making TF2 more like csgo in processing stuff.

Ah. Well this sucks. Care to release that plugin wherein you fixed this issue? It would help the community out.

No matter what heuristics you use, you cannot always reliably know when someone meant to use a ' rather than a ".

I wasn't aware of it also being an issue in CS:GO until it was also in TF2. Regardless, the TF2 Team is now aware of it and the trouble it causes and will be evaluating reverting it. That would also be the best fix.

As a guy who likes to be very hypothetical, I would really like to see this fix in csgo also.

Luckily, those two teams work very closely right now. If they revert it in one, I would think they'd be willing to revert it in the other, and be able to easily do so.

PS: In my example, I get the same issues using the in-game chat command (/rename) or in the console (sm_rename).

You can test this out yourself in tf2. They still don't work. Therefore, no fix.
