title is about all that is needed
inspecting CGrenadeFrag.cpp in the sdk would provide enough clues as to why this needs to be fixed.

Ideally creating unlimited env_sprite and env_spritetrail edicts stacking up to the edict limit and therefore crashing servers, until the nade was deleted, destroyed or blown up.

In HL2DM there is a gimmick where you can reset a nade timer (thus adding 2 more edicts - CGrenadeFrag::CreateEffects) by hitting it with the gravity gun.

    Yeah had this issue recently
    Code:
    L 04/10/2018 - 11:08:41: (17.18%) 352 env_spritetrail
    L 04/10/2018 - 11:08:41: (18.94%) 388 env_sprite
    L 04/10/2018 - 11:08:41: Total edicts: 2049

    A service to the community.

Confirmed this fix prevents users spamming the creation of env_sprites through grenades.
