I mean what about if you ban with the sm_ban command , would it be perfectly effective that way?

I dont know, I only use the menu, but I assume the command and the menu will work the same way.

With that change to the cfg-file the plugin will work fine, but you will get an error when issuing a ban that will look like the ban did not go throught.

This works perfectly (as long as client is in game]
sm_ban NAME/ID/STEAMID timeframe [REASON]

Any reason why it bans them but says "Failed to ban"

Can sourcebans cache admins/reserved slot users locally so that it can reduce queries to the sql server?

The database is only accessed when map load.
Basically what happening is that the file addons/sourcemod/configs/admins.cfg is updated during mapchange. And the players are checked against that file if they are admins or not.

Therefore the queries to the database server is already rather low.

You can also update the admins.cfg manually by using sm_rehash.

Can't really figure out how to add admin to a game server :S

Admin Panel -> Admins -> Adminstrator...
Code:
Server Permissions
• Reserved slot
• Generic admin
• Kick
• Ban
• Un-ban
• Slay
• Map change
• Change cvars
• Run configs
• Admin chat
• Start votes
• Password server
• RCON
• Enable Cheats
• Full Admin
• Custom flag 1
• Custom flag 2
• Custom flag 3
• Custom flag 4
• Custom flag 5
• Custom flag 6
in Edit Server Access
so is it unmarked and I can't mark it :S

Admin Panel -> Server Settings -> Server #1 -> Admins
it's empty

pleasured if someone can tell me how to do.

I am sure this has been discussed 1000 times all ready, but I am having the same issue. I have added the server IP and the bans do show up in the DB but I get the error in game. Is this something that can be fixed?

Also has anyone gotten this to work with group_overides.cfg? It always overwrites the cfg files unless they are set to read only. Thats a pain if you need to change group permissons and still maintain the over rides.

nope. sourcebans causes alot of lag on player joins. the code seems to check against some db with low bandwidth....disabling bans plugin yields significant
gains in quality overall. i have to ditch it until they clean their code...

p.s. grrrrrrrrrrr
