ZF Vanilla and Perks have been updated!

Vanilla is more of a maintenance update, while Perks is a major update with many new features and abilities.

Please let me know of any problems you encounter!

My server is crashing VERY frequently with the new perk version. There are no error logs so I have no idea what the cause is. We are already running the latest snapshots of SM/MM/sdkhooks.

I don't know a lot about how to properly implement translations. I will see how much work is required and if it's feasible given the available time.

I'm really sorry about this. Phantom, logless crashes are difficult to track down, and ZF has been suffering from them (occasionally) for a while. However, I've been reading a lot of other threads and may have finally, finally found the problem. It deals with incorrect calls to IsValidEdict, RemoveEdict, and timers persisting across map changes. The release is being postponed until these fixes are implemented, which should only take a couple days at most.

ZF Vanilla and Perks are both updated.

The main reason for the update was to address a series of crash-related issues. A small debug statement was added to server logs that might help diagnose crash issues, too. Crashes might still exist for other reasons, but hopefully it should be much improved. Also, this update includes a complete refactoring of all special effects code (particle systems, sprites, models, sounds), so if they seem off, let me know!

Lessons learned (for other developers):
  • IsValidEdict is bad.
  • RemoveEdict is worse.
  • IsValidEntity(0) returns true.
  • TIMER_FLAG_NO_MAPCHANGE is key to prevent timers from persisting across map changes.
