I'm getting back into hosting some servers.

I know back 4 years ago I was better off getting higher power per core vs weaker but multiple cores, as SRCDS servers were not multithreaded.

I want to run high slot count with 128 Tick.

Example:
Currently the Intel Core i7-8700K is one the highest single threaded CPUs around
Vs
The Intel Xeon E5-2692 v2, which has half the CPU power per single thread, but overall more powerful than the Core i7-8700K because it has double the cores.

If I wanted to run a 64 slot CSGO 128 Tick server, which CPU would it run better on? Higher Frequency per Core or Multiple cores per cpu?

4 years ago isn't a long time in Valve time, everything remains the same.
You want "Higher Frequency per Core", and until a new engine releases, it will remain that way most likely.

THe server is multi threaded, you canuse threads when you program a addon or a extension to sourcemod. but plugins run on a single thread

Most of the server logic runs on a single thread. Certain operations run on separate threads. Overall, it's not much change from before.
