    I felt that the huntsman was under-powered and needed a boost so I wrote this extension to allow snipers to shoot the bow-and-arrow while airborne.



    I always felt it was awkward to prime the bow in mid-air and not be able to release until you touch the ground. Snipers can't defend themself if they get airblasted by a pyro or get tossed by a rocket. Things like noclip and low grav make this useful to have anyway. This used to be an extension before I moved it into this plugin.

    Usage

    By default, the plugin will work when it is loaded. If you'd like to disable the plugin's functionality at any time, use the cvar huntsman_enabled . For example, if you wanted to turn off huntsman shooting in the air for a certain map, you could set huntsman_enabled 0 in a map config.

    Convars
    • huntsman_enabled 1 // [0/1] - Enable or disable this plugin's functionality.
    • huntsman_version // Broadcasts the plugin's current version.

    1. Copy huntsman.smx to sourcemod/plugins
    2. Copy huntsman.plugin.txt to sourcemod/gamedata

    Is there any benefit to using this plugin version over the extension? Any noticeable in-game changes in it's functionality?

    Both work exactly the same way. The plugin has the added benefit of the cvar so you can turn it on and off without unload/reloading.

    Ah I see, would it be possible for you to add a cvar so that it may also work underwater?

    Maybe.. years ago I determined that there's a client check underwater to prevent you from firing so I'd have to check again.

    Nice, I could have sworn someone or perhaps it was you pheadxdll made something just exactly like this already but maybe its just me.

    ...I added that to the extension when I recompiled it just recently anyway, but eh.

    Still, plugins tend to be less likely to break because of arbitrary SDK changes... see also 2013's unwind resume change thingy.
