[TF2] "Unable to load Steam support library" after the last update

This error is occurring on my Windows servers only. Linux servers are run normally. I heard about the new rules of the Quickplay servers and accounts but do not know if this has any relation.

This is happening to anyone else?

me too, windows only. my linux box is just fine. same connection. tried downloading fresh copy running stock, same thing.

All my windows servers will not start as well.

I get the same output as StayOx.

I have validated, and tried a few different ideas with no luck. I wish it would output a little more information about the error.

The update also killed my servers, same error.

I spent 5 hours trying to fix it with different workarounds from random sites, nothing worked until I found this site.

So I reinstalled windows on the server and did not install steam and I got everything back up.
Kind of a pain in the a** but I thought I would let you guys know how I got it to work.

What version of windows are you running? Did you install all windows updates prior to starting the server?

Ok, just an update for anyone who is working on this issue;

I am on Win7 Pro x64

Only windows updates installed since the breakage was a security definition update for MSE.

Firewall is off currently, and MSE real time scanning is disabled.

If I have to reinstall my OS, I will cry.

Usually when this error occurs on windowsis because the file: "steam_appid.txt" is not in the srcds root folder, but after the update yesterday the valve fucked all !

in the case of TF2 the appid is: 440

Yeah my Windows TF2 Server has been down all day with the exact same problem guys. Tried all sorts of things but to no avail. Hoping that valve get a fix out urgently.
