Is uploading mp3's(songs) to a website a form of piracy and is it illegal?

The reason I was posting this was because I needed to use fast downloads for my loading song on my server. (That was worded pretty bad, sorry

Depends on who owns the copyrights.

Uploading them isn't illegal, but making them available in public / distributing them is illegal, if you don't own the copyrights to the works.

Search around, there's plenty of listenable music licensed under Creative commons for example. If you don't want it to be your favorite list hits, finding free music isn't that hard.

Yes very much so, check the law of your country & country the server is in.
