If you don't know the IP yourself, I don't think that you run a dedicated server...
Could it might be that you open CS and click 'New Game' ?
Then you can't control the ip (I don't think that you can).
But you need the ip to connect to a dedicated server. Or ?
I have to connect via. the steam-server page. And to do that I need to IP.

I find it hard to belive your running a dedicated server.

What are the steps you do to start your server?

Is the server ONLY running if your playing (this is a listenserver)

Are you starting the server through the "games" menu in steam.

im 100 % that im running a dedicated server..

when im gonne set up the server i do like this:

>Play games menu
>Press DEDICATED SERVER
and this "Start dedicated server" menu comes up..

i set that "UDP Port" on 27016 but still it doesnt work..

Ive tried this too :

run it with this in the command line for the shortcut to start it

+port 27016

it should always start on 27016 then

Or if you go to the:
>Play games menu
>right click go to properties
>Launch Options button
>then add it there

this is what someone told me..

Is there anyway when i have my dedicated server set up i can see my external IP and PORT ?? a command or something..

On my dedicated server menu when its up it only shows my
"LAN IP":27016

when the game is running type this in the server console

status

it will show your IPORT your server is running on. It should be port 27016.

Thats the port it is on, end of story.

Unless you have your router setup to forward random ports or your router is just plain retarded it will work fine and your friends telling you these random port numbers are stupid.

I don't think that it is your ip adress.
Not when it is the :27016 that disappears...

*SMACK* You think I don't know what I'm talking about you fool?

you dont think what is your IP?

I never told him that the IP listed in the status message was his IP people connect to, but it is the port people should connect to.

The IP listed will be his internal LAN IP.
