I want to run Counter Strike 1.6 server
in My Computer
I need to install Linux
Which Linux install?
How to run server?

search the word linux, firstly only in titles, if you don't find good answers, search in the posts

Are you good at Linux? Then FreeBSD. Are you not so good with Linux? Then CentOS. As for how, I wrote a tutorial once about installing HLDS under linux.

If you don't know anything about linux already then it is best to just use Windows. If you are willing to learn then choose which ever one you want. I use Fedora (because I like it).

If you are not familiar with Linux then you shouldn't use it. There are many places on the internet where you can find the basics of Linux usage and how to access via PuTTY.

As fysiks said ...if you are not familiar with linux then use windows ....you may get many problems while using linux like using it though console , missing library ,setting up networks.
And trust me if you don't know anything about linux then it will be a big problem for you . Even if you are willing to learn those , it will take atleast 2 days to configure it properly from scratch and by reading tutorials by googling .
