Hey guys,

I was hoping some people can provide me a little insight about why my Server FPS drops a crap load.

I'm running Windows Server 2008 and I get 1,000 FPS when there is no one on. However, when the servers are full, my FPS varies a bunch. I'm talking 1,000 FPS to 40FPS. Now, I'm not certain if that really makes a big difference or not. I've read it does, I've read it doesn't, but I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts from the 'pro's'

CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
76.50 72423.96 324257.03 3065 60 66.65 29
stats
CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
72.67 70790.48 336122.25 3065 60 501.00 29

That's usually what happens when I have a full server with the FPS. I can't seem to get it to run at 1,000 FPS

On an empty server, it just sits at 1,000 FPS

Can anyone tell me why? Or if it's completely normal?

29 players, do you really think a server with 29 players playing on it can make it stay 500 fps? If you've a tick 66 you need at least of 66 fps. It's depending on the map, player connected, tick rate. I don't think it's really a matter if it drops to 40 anyway, until it's not a war server and that you feel the game is smooth when you're playing on it.

Machine -
Q9550, 8gigs ram, 10TB bandwidth running 3 1,000FPS 32 slot TF2 servers

Each on separate cores

My post about the FPS was to show the inconsistency.

1min it's 1,000, next it's 40, next it's 90, next it's 1000, next its 400.

Get the picture?

Not sure why you even want to bother running 1000fps on any srcds.

Most people believe that because it is 1000fps it is better but the average player would not notice the difference if it was 500fps max.

Anyway, try using srcds fps boost and make sure HPET is enabled in the bios.

You could also check your Min Rates are not set too high.
