When my server restarts (whether it's manual or daily restart), the sm_nextmap value is always null ("sm_nextmap" "") and the default map loops indefinitely unless the map is changed manually. Once the map is changed manually, then the mapcycle runs as normal and sm_nextmap is no longer null. Any help would be appreciated.

sm_nextmap should be set by the nextmap plugin when it starts up.

Have you disabled the nextmap plugin at some point?
