Thank you very much for the feedback guys, it's very helpful. I've implemented the requested features:

New Version
  • 1.0.6 (19 November 2012)
    -Fixed Rope to make it more "rope-like" by recognizing slackness.
    -Added convar to control sound effect volume (sm_hgr_sound_amplify).
    -Added convars to set custom sound effects for each hook, grab, and rope.
    -Separated sm_hgr_freeze_enable into three convars for each hook, grab, and rope.
    -Switched to HookEventEx to improve mod compatibility.

nice, I was just about to make fun of your little 'pfft' fart sound for hook

would it be easier to have 3 separate plugins to manage? I only have the hook enabled.. ropes ok, but I think grab is dumb.. just my opnion but thanks again for the updates!

even with sm_hgr_sound_amplify "5" It's still barly audible, if you spam it you only get the sound once n a while.. No one can hear it when I do it near them either.. altho I cant verify if their client actually downloaded the sound file.

Does the hook beam have to seem like it's coming out of my head?

Aww, I thought it was a good sound effect for the hook. =(

I agree that hook is the most useful, but the original plugin has all three, so I'd better maintain them all. Since they all work very similar to one another, it makes sense to have them in the same plugin.

Sheepdude, I would like to use your plugin as a dependency for my upcoming map but it doesn't seem to have all of the features I need. If it's not too difficult, could you add a separate hook command that only works on a named trigger_multiple? Additionally I would like to request a notification to appear when you give someone a hook, or take one away.

By the way, that command in particular is taking the entire argument into account. If I do sm_givehook <target> 1, it's going reply with "[SM] No matching client was found."

I want to surround specific geometry in my map with a trigger named "hook" as a way to filter what parts of the map the hook will work on.
The plugins this person has been posting uses named brush entities if you need an example. http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=198015

oh, like you can use hook/rope only where trigger is, nowhere else?
