Either the distance between database/gameserver is too far, or the database simply aint good enough. Dunno where you got ur server, but usually gameserver providers offer decent databases.

The .cfg says the default sprite is "materials/sprites/laserbeam" but that is not included in the download, is not there by default on my CSS servers, and is also not there by default on my GO servers.

The new sprite btw, at least on GO where I'm using the timer, displays weird sometimes. On some maps, the sprite is upside down and only looks correct from outside the zone looking in, and then sometimes it looks fine from the inside looking out but not on other maps.
Stuff got updated yesterday, sprites seem to be working properly now. Recompile the mapzones.sp with the newest include files, Make sure the materials folder of github is on ur gameserver + fast dl, and get the cfg/sourcemod/timer/mapzones.cfg from github too, then the sprites should work fine.

Thank you very much that has been very helpful. This might sound stupid but the download doesn't come with any .smx files. I downloaded the other time as well of course but what about all the extra features such as !hide etc? Is there any easy way I can get the .smx files for this?

You need to manually compile all .sp files with the latest sourcemod snapshots.

This timer is dynamic to run on various mods like surf, bhop, clib, kreedz, minigames, deathrun, etc...
He can still use other plugins or buy a private timer with less features ;)
