Is it possible for this plugin to be expanded/fixed with everything working if you could upload the proper files to clients. Maybe setup for new custom character select. New models, materials, sounds, and anything else needed. I will help anyone who wants to take this on get there downloads for clients working properly again with there server.

Course the advantage of eventually being able to use custom content means you could theoretically use a custom coded Bill separate from Valve's coded Bill which essentially would allow you to use Bill without error/crash on servers.

Course the big problem with custom anything is getting people to warm up to the idea because of security.

EDIT

AND given Steam got just recently hacked would probably make people skeptical of user custom content unless it comes through a Valve filter.

Hey Sev, do you know of any way to make Bill not crash while using that custom L4DownTown2 extension with the current CSM plugin?

Can't use Bill as a bot because he will crash the server on a map change. In older versions of CSM when Bill was first added. Mi had the feature so he would change back to Nick but he never fixed it in 2.5.

Using Bill as a player works fine in 2.5a as long as you don't go Idle. For me anyway.

2.5 B results in instant crash.

Hm, I see.

That kinda sucks.

Bill doesn't seem to work at all and just crashes the game/server.

It would be nice if someone updated the plugin to work properly.

I get hand glitching with 2.5a, crash with 2.5b, I made a feable attempt at trying to fix it, adjusting NETPROP values and failed, so I edited the plugin and made it so you just look like Bill, however your hands don't change and neither does voice, everyone else works fine, voice changes fine for louis, francis, zoey. no more crashing, I was just gonna remove bill completely from the menu, but I left it so people that like using him still can, kinda...If your interested let me know, i'll post it. Only difference between 2.5a and 2.5b is a NETPROP value A uses 11 and B uses 9. 9 fixes the glitching but causes crash, 11 fixes crashing but causes glitching, I screwed around with it to no avail...when I get more ambition i'll screw with it some more... And yes Sev it does pose a security risk, however only files within .vpk files can replace existing ones, and .vpk's require a restart to load. I've been also working on some custom guns, that don't replace any existing ones, still trying to figure out how to get them into game...

Yeah whatever Simian Cage/Graveyard uses.

Its something that doesn't cause Bill to glitch and from what I've seen though I can't be sure. Keeps him from crashing the server.

Could be a simple fix nobody thought of but more than likely. Its probably something that required some work.

I mean in the end I use Mi's 2.5a version which is serviceable just not a complete package with things like.

- Bill being glitchy
- Bill bot being a server crash on map change because he doesn't revert to Nick even though player Bill does revert to Nick
- Bill sometimes being bleh for hordes though this was mostly fixed but the hordes can be abnormally large

Would be nice if someone released a fix, though.

this plugin hasn't been updated in over a year, and they've ported everything from L4D1 since then, they created fixes for bill that were work arounds, the server/person you refer to probably corrected the code in the plugin that was incorrect, related to a workaround for bill. I dunno, i might screw with it, then again I might not, would take some long nights and lots of coffee...

It would be really great if the plugin was updated to fix Bill's flickering FPS arms. Also, it'd be nice if when using L4D2 Survivors in L4D1 campaigns they'd have their original names. But even for now the plugin rocks.
