That's their problem. If a server administrator doesn't take the time to know what the mod they're installing does, they're just asking for trouble. In this case, I like to say

Darn, back 2 back post, sorry about that - I thought I was editing my above post.

I prefer to make it easy on all, witch is why I support sm, its open source, everyone can edit and code, and I try to make everything as easy as I can. I do understand that making it a admin command will make it harder to abuse. So ok, lets leave it as it is.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a debate, I just meant that there was an easy way to achieve what you wanted without recompiling for every update.

If you were asking because you would prefer that it was the default on all servers, then I'd have to say that it probably won't happen. The SMAC command doesn't cache anything, and I wouldn't want to have another command that was just as easy to abuse as the built-in "status".

That was my initial idea yes, but I naturally changed my mind on that.

After the recent EP2V update, the Command Monitor will now properly kick players on your server for spamming these commands.

Code:
L 06/29/2012 - 13:32:55: [smac_commands.smx] Tony (ID: STEAM_0:1:1234| IP: 1.1.1.1) was kicked for command spamming: status
L 06/29/2012 - 13:33:30: [smac_commands.smx] Tony (ID: STEAM_0:1:1234| IP: 1.1.1.1) was kicked for command spamming: ping
This applies to TF2, DoD:S, and HL2:DM. Edit: And now CS:S.

The smac_status command actually doubles as a useful way to determine if Steam authentication is lagging behind on your server (SourceMod 1.5+).

If you think you're running into a similar problem as this thread, you can verify with smac_status:
Code:
UserID AuthID Name
    20 STEAM_0:1:8456868 Will
    35 Unknown Fred
    32 Unknown Uri
    30 Unknown Orin
    37 Unknown Harold
    22 STEAM_0:1:56498615 Wyatt
    39 Unknown Eugene
    41 Unknown Alfred
    19 STEAM_0:1:96791575 Graham
