They should test it by smashing the flask between two trains traveling at 100mph each. If that works we might have a winner.

NASA should be sending the waste to the sun.

My other idea, might work here, but I want to take land fills, go to Hawaii and start dumping the trash into the underground lava rivers and turn the trash into rock. I wonder how it would react to radiation...

/me throws TheNewt into the river.

hmm... TheNewt floats on lava.

First off, we're not going to send an entire container of radioactive material through the Earth's frictional winds. Also about the storing: concerns are what if a strong enough earthquake caused the containment systems to be breeched (either partially or fully) or someone purposely tampering with the containment area, i.e. setting a bomb off.

edit
The above comment was made before I watched PPF's youtube video. I'd be convinced if they used a couple of TNT's of the container. I'd be all than more than ready for Nuclear Energy (this is my only concern with Nuclear Energy).

We will hire 100 immigrant workers to go clean up a mess and live on an island till they die.

OR, instead of STORING the waste, we could do what we ORIGINALLY intended to do, which was recycle the waste and refine it (to make new fuel rods), and send the REAL waste (unrefined or unenriched Uranium 238 and lesser elements) to OTHER plants, which use the unrefined stuff, AND to breeder reactors (which can use and/or actively refine waste WHILE producing energy).

However, the companies owning nuclear power plants realized that uranium ore is actually cheaper than recycling uranium waste, so this whole "storage" thing came up. The technology allows for the cleanest energy source we have available, at the cheapest prices, but companies always look out for the bottom line. The result? More money for the CEO, same amount of energy for us, nature gets a kick in the tits.

Ah, capitalism.
