Should i unbann him?

That was, as you allready realized, a server violating / hacking program. Though it seems to me he didn't know what he was doing, since he never tried to input a password.

I would leave him banned. Even if he didn't know what he was doing, I would still keep him banned

Don't bother unbanning him. Pointless to let someone play your server if they are gonna try to hijack the rcon.

Leave him banned, or you could unbann him and right a plugin that forces them to stay spec mode, and then while they are in spec mode, he is constantly privately mocked about his failure to hack rcon.

Either way works.

also, this may not pertain to this, but if you have a ban your not sure of is a perma ban, just take his ip or steamid and place it in the banned file for hlds(i would use his ip tho if they try and hack anything weather or not they know what their doing, since if they dont, they will learn in time if they tried)

excuse me, but what the hell did you just write? you must be seriously hammered, lol

Davethegreat you are missing the point of those commands that I posted...only complete idiots would actually show up in the server logs. Someone already explained how people get the rcon from the server in some other topic, so I am not gonna go into details about that. Those two commands were meant to ban those exact idiots who would try and guess the rcon.

If you want to prevent people from getting your rcon you either have to completely stop using it ( no HLSW logging or anything ) or better yet set it to nothing ("") so now one could use it. If you use your rcon for anything you run the risk of some punk getting it.

well I did post at the same time I posted something else that i very well saw and could definitly tell was infulenced by the alcohol. You got me. I was bored at work working way more than i should be so i had a few drinks at the bar for luch(executive lunch) and that is what panned out. (it also took me a long time to write those 2 lines, which now sux even more, ha)
