I am saddened at the fact that I can't seem to get a hold of the full install of Half-life but only the patches, which will not work when I don't have HL installed. Should/Can I just install Half-life through Steam? I feel stupid but it drives me nuts...

I am downloading all of the components - 768kb/s (yes kiloBITS :-\) ftl - damn WSU restricts download speeds ridiculously! I did get CS 1.5 installed but no executables so hopefully your version fixes that.

No. You have to buy Half-Life or retail Counter-Strike, but the Steam versions are not compatible with 1.5 so you need a pre-Steam version. You can find this on eBay for well under $10 here, here and here.

I actually do have the disks at home (in cali) so I will grab them when I am home this weekend so I can install Half-life. Can I play on 1.5 servers still or is WON dead already?

Where the hell have you been? WON died and Steam took over all these years

You'd have to search for the unofficial WON2 or non-steam 1.5 servers to play

I knew WON died but I also knew WON was expected to stay around for a couple years - guess those couple years flew before my eyes :-).

I hope I can find some servers because I loved 1.6 especially the NO-ADS crap.
